I have owned my own law firm since 1990 and I know the Colorado court system, including judges, opposing attorneys and district attorneys, like the back of my hand. I have years of experience successfully defending my clients against criminal charges and helping guide individuals through separation and divorce.  I win far more trials than I lose, and I have worked hard to secure a reputation as a lawyer that protects my client’s dignity with compassionate representation.

Criminal Defense Practice

Most of my criminal defense clients are surprised to learn that being a Colorado lawyer is a second career for me.  I became an attorney after a great career in journalism to dig deeper into being a part of the change that I wanted to see happen. Decades ago, I began my legal career in the trenches as a Colorado State Public Defender. That experience left me with hundreds of criminal defense trials under my belt and the firm confirmation that justice is not blind, fair, or impartial. Good people are put through terrible experiences in our judicial system every single day. For my clients, the charges do not have to be steep to mean a lot to them, their families, and the futures. For this reason, all cases I take on receive the same high level of attentive and proactive representation from start to finish.

Divorce & Family Law Legal Services

I have worked with families in transition for decades. I understand how divorce affects everyone in a family- not just the two people that want to be divorced. I work with my family law clients to determine what their immediate and long-term goals are and balance that information with high-level guidance on what the road ahead will look and feel like.  Family law matters can be complex and oftentimes intersect with other issues involving domestic violence and criminal law. I understand these nuances and help my clients work through what is before us. I have helped countless Colorado parents through separation, divorce and post-decree issues and provide valuable representation to every family my law firm has served.
